Holli Busching, Preschool – Grade 5

We have a lively and growing religious education program for young parishioners from elementary school to high school.  The youth and religious education coordinators work with volunteers to provide classroom sessions, community-service projects and social activities for students.

Preschool-2nd Grade Children’s Church

Held each Sunday morning 10:15-11:30am starting in October and ending Palm Sunday, the class does a scriptural lesson which incorporates music and crafts.  Each year these children work hard to prepare a Christmas Program for our whole community to enjoy. Volunteer opportunities include catechists and helping with various programs.

3rd -5th Grade Release Time

Children are released from their public school classrooms to learn more about themselves and their faith.  They are brought to St. Joseph’s by bus on Wednesdays from 12:30-2:00 pm, October through Palm Sunday.   Each week the children explore a scripture lesson and prayer.  A Prayer Station Workshop is offered every three years for children to attend, bringing fun and learning together.  During Advent & Lent these children work with liturgy to bring our Gospel alive during Children’s Mass on Wednesday’s at 1:00pm.  Volunteer opportunities include catechists available Wednesday afternoons, and help with Prayer Stations and Children’s Mass.

2nd Grade Sacramental Preparation

This is a program for children preparing to receive their First Reconciliation and Communion.  Three preparation workshops for parents and children are offered. Volunteer opportunities include sacramental instruction leaders for those lessons, kitchen help with our “Bread Day” workshop and lunch, and organizing the First Communion Celebration.
