Respect For Life

The Respect for Life Mission seeks to foster greater respect for life from conception until natural death, through prayer, education and public awareness.  Abortions are legal from conception to birth and for any reason in our country and much of the western world.

The elderly and disabled are devalued because society makes judgments based on their perception the individual's quality of life, when we are all of equal value in the eyes of God.  Jesus Christ himself demonstrated particular compassion for children, the disabled and the elderly.  We are called to do likewise;  to defend those who are least able to defend themselves.  That is the mission of the Catholic Church and ours as well.

Because respect for life finds its most fertile ground in good family life, we assist parents to learn about the related issues and challenges so that they can foster basic values in their children, including protecting the sanctity of the marriage and beyond.

Look to the bulletin for upcoming Respect for Life events and opportunities.  Feel free to call Jim Uzelac or Catherine McLynn for any questions you may have.

Healing Prayers for the Sick

The Power of Praying Together…

The intent is to come together in prayer- not that we all have to say the same prayers, but in doing so, we increase the power of prayer even if it’s by coming to the same prayer site.

"Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything
that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or
more are gathered together in My Name, I am there in the midst of them." -- Matthew 18: 19-20

Health Ministry

Many parishes have realized the important connections beetween physical health and one's priritual well being.  To this end, we have identified the need for a parish health ministry at St. joseph's.  Sue Koprowski has been trained as the parish nurse and Mary Gunderson as our health minister.  Together, their work serves the whole parish to help meet the emotional, spiritual and physical needs of our members.  Blood pressure screenings are held on the first and third weekends of each month and home visits are available.  Periodic special seminars, such as assistance with a health care directive and CPR Training are available to our parish.
